Why I ran.
I grew up in Black Creek, with school and sports taking me between Campbell River and Courtenay. My grandparents lived here, and I remember the arcade, all you can eat Pizza Hut, and the wonderful smell of the pulp mill. I have lived in Campbell River since 2005.
I became a CPA, built businesses and raised my family here. Working downtown is what brought me into Council. Broken windows, graffiti, garbage and drug paraphernalia had become part of the working day. I worried about my staff arriving in the morning and leaving at night. I wanted us to do something about it.
I still clean garbage from the sidewalks around my buildings. I know when it's bad and when it's better. Four years on Council have widened my view: safe streets depend on more than what happens on one block. Housing, treatment, reliable services and a stable local government all matter. I take what happens here very personally.
Why another term
Four years became useful experience.
I came to Council as a father, a CPA and an entrepreneur. How complicated could it be? Turns out it is very complicated. Four years later, I know what the City can do, what work costs and what it takes to finish it. We need experienced people and we need to train new ones to maintain our momentum.
Council doesn't need another suit with a government accent. It needs principled people who understand the machinery, challenge weak logic, dream about the future, and finish things.

Campbell River ranked #1 for the lowest municipal tax increase from 2022 through 2026 among all B.C. municipalities with 25,000 to 50,000 residents. This compares increases, not the complete household tax bill.

Next Term
Keep making steady progress.
Nunns Creek is being rebuilt. Strathcona Gardens is moving through its next stages. More homes need to get from an application to a front door. There are many other ideas we can and will turn into reality.
The next term needs to turn that work into places people can actually use.
