Method notes
- The City's formal comparator method includes every B.C. municipality with a 2021 Census population from 25,000 to 50,000.
- The current Council was elected in October 2022. The marker provides political context; it does not assign every later change to Council.
- Municipal + charges combines General Municipal, residential parcel taxes and residential user fees. Regional + hospital combines those two levies. School + agencies combines School with BCA, MFA and Other.
- The light-blue stack uses each municipality's total property-tax requirement, not a claimed tax-rate increase for an individual existing property.
- The illustrated 2030 total is calculated as: 2026 complete bill minus 2026 General Municipal tax, plus 2026 General Municipal tax multiplied by the municipality's 2030-to-2026 property-tax-requirement ratio.
- The expandable table shows the official 2026 endpoint. Separate downloadable CSV files preserve all 77 historical records and all 11 plan-projection inputs.
- West Vancouver's much higher representative assessment lifts the arithmetic average; the median is the more stable middle-of-group benchmark.
What should be measured next: Replace the illustration with each new Schedule 704 actual, and update adopted-plan values whenever a council amends its financial plan.
